Overview
Position Overview: TriplePoint is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller / VP of Accounting & Controls to lead corporate accounting, consolidations, financial reporting, and risk control functions across a growing portfolio of operating companies. This role is critical in driving standardization, accuracy, and compliance within a high-growth, acquisitive, private equity-backed environment. The successful candidate will be both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting while preparing the company for future growth and potential liquidity events.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Consolidation & Reporting: Own the monthly and quarterly consolidated roll-up of financial reporting, including Work in Progress (WIP) schedules. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of reporting across all operating companies. Establish standardized reporting frameworks, including chart of accounts alignment and intercompany eliminations.
Audit & Risk Management: Act as internal auditor, implementing controls and processes to mitigate financial and operational risks. Lead the annual corporate audit with a top-tier accounting firm, ensuring clean results with minimal to no deficiencies. Establish systems to identify compliance gaps and proactively flag financial or operational risks.
Process Standardization & Integration: Partner with subsidiary CFOs and finance teams to align accounting practices and enforce consistency across diverse teams and systems. Develop and maintain a playbook for integration of newly acquired businesses into corporate standards. Implement technology and process automation solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Transaction & QoE Readiness: Prepare the organization for future transactions, including sell-side readiness. Oversee Quality of Earnings (QoE) processes, ensuring structured closing procedures, documentation, and reconciliations. Support due diligence efforts with external advisors and potential investors.
Qualifications & Ideal Background
Technical Expertise: Construction industry accounting with deep knowledge of WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and project accounting. Strong background in consolidation, roll-ups, chart of accounts standardization, and intercompany accounting. Hands-on technical competency with Excel and accounting/automation tools.
Professional Experience: Initial training in audit at a Big 4 accounting firm; experience in private equity–backed, acquisitive platforms with exposure to integration and standardization of reporting. Proven success leading financial audits with clean results and minimal control deficiencies. Direct experience leading a company through a sale process and Quality of Earnings review.
Leadership Attributes: Process-driven leader with exceptional attention to detail and uncompromising quality standards. Industrious, self-starting, and comfortable in a lean corporate environment (expectation of 55+ hours weekly, with additional intensity during transactions). Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with operating company CFOs and finance teams. Practical, hands-on operator willing to roll up sleeves and execute tasks as needed.
