The credit union’s sole purpose is to provide quality service. The Mortgage Loan Officer’s role is to provide information on credit union products and services to members according to all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Mortgage Loan Officers interview applicants for real-estate loans as well as prepare, analyze, process and document all required forms and related documentation for the loans.

Responsibilities

Interview loan applicants and assist members with the mortgage loan application process. Analyze detailed financial information and credit data and risk to match member’s needs with an appropriate loan product

Consistently follow-up with members in regards to mortgage inquiries and questions. Keep members adequately informed during all phases of the mortgage loan application process

Respond to inquiries, complaints, and solve problems for members regarding their accounts and/or loans. Follow-up to ensure complete satisfaction

Educate members on how to buy/finance a home as well as counseling members on how to improve their credit score

Maintain accurate records of insurance and taxes on real estate loans. Establish and maintain escrow accounts for the payment of taxes and insurance. File necessary documents to record credit union’s lien

Ensure mortgage loans are processed accurately. Prepare mortgage loan application and document packet for closing. Pay title company fees for title searches, legal work and appraisals

Develop mortgage loan business through member education seminars, calls to realtors, contractors and other institutions. Maintain close relations with others in the banking community, home construction, and real estate to be knowledgeable about property values and to build network of professionals

Will be responsible and able to perform the tasks of a Mortgage Loan Processor

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Qualifications And Skills

Requires two years experience with Conventional, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), and Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), and construction loans.

Education/Certifications/Licenses: Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence senior level personnel is a key component of the job, requiring expertise, credibility, influence and trust. Proficiency in developing and delivering material presentations on complex topics can be important to fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
