Requirements: applicant must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid Texas driver's license. Pre-employment Drug Screen required. Not currently accepting roles that do not require a driver's license.
Responsibilities
Installation and Maintenance: Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as traffic signals, road signs, barriers, and pavement markings. Install new equipment and repair or replace damaged items.
Traffic Management: Implement temporary traffic control measures during road construction, accidents, or other incidents; guide drivers and ensure safety using cones, barrels, and signs.
Inspection: Regularly inspect traffic control equipment to ensure proper function, including signal timing, sign visibility, and road markings condition.
Coordination: Work with municipal departments, construction crews, and law enforcement to plan and execute traffic control strategies for major roadwork or events.
Compliance: Ensure all measures comply with state and federal regulations, including MUTCD guidelines.
Emergency Response: Respond quickly to accidents or hazardous conditions to set up appropriate traffic control and maintain safety.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to accept direction and feedback from Traffic Control Crew Chief and follow through appropriately
Ability to adapt to changes in work tasks or environment
Ability to read, understand, and carry out written and verbal instructions; ask questions when unclear
Maintenance and basic repair of equipment; mechanical aptitude
Map reading and navigation to job sites and back to warehouse
Delivery responsibilities when needed
Knowledge of tools and equipment and ability to select appropriate tool for the task
Organized, time-efficient work practices
Clear communication and the ability to convey information effectively
Ability to take direction or show initiative as needed
Ability to work extended hours, days, and weekends when necessary
Reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
Duties and Responsibilities
Arrive at the shop/yard at the beginning of the shift and be prepared to work
Follow work instructions to ensure consistent service and quality
Recommend measures to improve efficiency, service quality, product quality, and safety
Maintain all work areas, vehicles, and sites in a neat and orderly fashion
Load and unload materials and equipment on site
Notify Traffic Control Supervisor of any quality or safety concerns
Demonstrate initiative by evaluating situations and making decisions based on facts and sound judgments
Represent the company professionally and in accordance with its values
Perform other duties as assigned by the Traffic Control Supervisor
