Overview
Arch Insurance Group Inc., AIGI, has an opening with the Claims Division on the Mid Corp Casualty Team as a Claims Examiner, Casualty. In this role, you will actively manage commercial claims for medium severity, general liability, and associated excess and umbrella policies in jurisdictions throughout the United States. Responsibilities
Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, retain coverage counsel when necessary, and review coverage counsel's opinion letters and analysis. Develop and implement strategy related to coverage issues aligned with the overall strategy of matters entrusted to the handler's care. Develop and implement timely and accurate resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures. Maintain contact with claims staff, business line leaders, underwriters, defense counsel, program managers, and brokers to communicate developments and outcomes. Investigate claims and review insureds' materials, pleadings, and other relevant documents. Identify and review applicable statutes, rules, and case law by jurisdiction. Review litigation materials including depositions and experts’ reports. Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured issues, and contractual indemnity issues. Retain and direct counsel as needed according to the resolution strategy. Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to assess and recommend reserves. Prepare and present written or oral reports to senior management outlining issues and reserve recommendations. Travel within the United States to attend mediations, trials, and other proceedings related to resolution of matters. Negotiate resolutions of claims. Select and utilize structure brokers as appropriate. Maintain a diary of all claims, post reserves in a timely fashion, and respond to inquiries from the insured, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and senior management regarding claims. Experience & Required Skills
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), plus strong evaluative, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal abilities to develop productive working relationships across the organization. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to participate in active strategic discussions and work well independently and in a team environment. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Willing and able to travel 10%. Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Five to seven years (3-5) of working experience with a primary and/or excess carrier supporting commercial Casualty claims; experience with Casualty and Construction is a plus. Active adjuster licensing in all applicable states. Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range: $61,900.00/yr - $83,623.00/yr. For specific locations: O\'Fallon, Alpharetta: $61,900 - $83,623/year; Chicago, Morristown: $71,900 - $97,110/year; NYC: $79,900 - $107,900/year. This range is provided by Arch Insurance Group Inc. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. The total compensation includes base salary and incentives, and the above range may be modified in the future.
