Overview As a first point of access for Lee Health customers this position completes and assists with registration, insurance verification, authorization, price estimation, denial prevention, claims processing, and financial screening to secure maximum reimbursement for the Health System. This role confirms patient identity and uses Epic and on-line resources to ensure Medicare medical necessity and billing requirements have been met. The position requires excellent verbal, analytical and customer service skills across telephonic, written, electronic, in-person, and bedside communication in a direct clinical care setting. It also requires knowledge of governmental regulations, computer skills, and analytical ability to navigate information from multiple payers to ensure claims and billing requirements are accurate. General payor contracting and chargemaster experience are needed to estimate prices in compliance with pricing transparency requirements. The ability to multi-task with critical thinking in a fast-paced environment is essential to provide an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
Complete and assist with registration, insurance verification, authorization, price estimation, denial prevention, claims processing, and financial screening.
Confirm patient identity and verify Medicare medical necessity and billing requirements.
Navigate information from multiple payers to ensure claims and billing accuracy.
Apply general payor contracting and chargemaster knowledge to ensure accurate price estimation and compliance with pricing transparency.
Provide high-quality customer service across multiple communication channels and settings.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Post-high school training or an associate degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1 year in a customer relations role required; Epic experience preferred. Minimum 1 year of healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred.
Other: Medical terminology knowledge desired. Excellent computer skills. Ability to speak multiple languages is helpful. Strong telephone etiquette, listening, verbal and written communication, and customer service skills are essential.
