Job Summary The Mortgage Originator is responsible for originating and processing mortgage loans and supporting all aspects of mortgage department production. The employee will support the bank's strategic goals, vision, mission, core values, service standards and service philosophy in actions, words and deeds.
Responsibilities & Key Duties
Originate and process mortgage loans and support mortgage department production.
Support the bank's strategic goals, vision, mission, core values, service standards and service philosophy.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Basic knowledge of the bank's products and services.
Willingness to serve.
Efficient functioning in a network environment and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
General business level mathematics and general accounting knowledge (debits, credits, bank account reconciliations).
Professional image and adherence to employee handbook guidelines.
Research and analyze information skillfully.
Self-starter, creative thinker, flexible, eager, nurturing, open to change, exhibit good judgment.
Leadership by example, attentive to detail, work well with others, responsive to supervisory guidance.
Identify and interpret trends in financial data.
Working knowledge of compliance guidelines for the bank and industry.
Banking and Finance knowledge and talents.
Knowledge of loan documentation necessary for mortgage lending.
Regulation B, Regulation C, Regulation Z, HMDA, RESPA, Bank Secrecy, etc.
Read financial statements (balance sheet, profit & loss statement, cash flow statement).
Broad general knowledge of insurance products.
Understand loan and commitment letters.
Understand appropriate loan documentation for all mortgage loans including FHA.
Sales skills: prospecting, obtaining appointments, conducting interviews, analyzing information, recommending products, closing, post‑sale follow‑up, requesting referrals, tracking new business, initiating vendor communications, documenting and maintaining records, keeping sales results, and proficiency with Caylex Software.
Education High school diploma, College preferred.
Experience 2-5 years Mortgage Originator experience or related sales experience.
Supervised by SVP of Mortgage Lending
Commissions Commissions may apply based on performance and company policy.
