We are seeking a

Senior Credit Underwriter , reporting to the Head of Professional Services, to provide Portfolio Management and Underwriting support for financial institutions. Underwriting support includes spreading financial statements, analyzing global cash flow, and writing credit memoranda in conjunction with commercial loan requests. The underwriter may also execute various credit servicing activities, including covenant testing, risk rating assessments, and formal documentation of credit servicing actions.

What You’ll Do

Manages the workflow of the team and provides quality assurance

Perform detailed credit analysis on new and existing commercial clients, focusing on financial condition and operating performance, industry risk, and repayment ability (C&I, CRE, Agriculture & Non-Profit transactions)

Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and collateral documentation to support underwriting decisions

Prepare credit memoranda and present findings to credit committees

Spreads borrower year-end and interim financial statements in spreading software platforms

Prepares Global Cash Flow analysis

Tests interim and year-end covenant compliance calculations

Tests interim and year-end benchmarks (if applicable)

Prepares collateral analysis

Spreads and analyzes guarantor financial information

Prepares risk rating models on borrowers and guarantors

Prepares new money underwriting analysis and credit servicing analysis (e.g., annual reviews)

Works collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including credit officers and relationship managers

Training and reviewing the work of junior associates and quality assurance

Accountable for client-facing activities

Exercises independent judgment and finalizes risk rating decisions

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (minimum of four (4) years of commercial loan underwriting, analysis, or portfolio management experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree)

Minimum of ten (10) years of commercial loan underwriting, analysis, or portfolio management experience preferred

Demonstrates mastery of commercial credit analysis skills and ability to spread financial statements and monitor credit information with limited review and oversight
