Amazon's Finance Operations, Accounting & Analysis (FOAA) team is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment and delivering great experiences for our customers is top priority. FOAA is seeking a Financial Analyst -II to support our accounting team. The responsibilities include month end closing activities, preparation of monthly/quarterly/annually reconciliations and balance sheet analysis. This position will support the Management in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures, and policies. This position will also play an important role in promoting systems/process development within department to ensure ongoing efficiency and control improvements. The successful candidate will have a strong desire in innovating processes and exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Month end closing activities
Preparation of monthly/quarterly/annually reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
Support the Management in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures, and policies
Promote systems/process development within the department to ensure ongoing efficiency and control improvements
Innovate processes and exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Must be a Certified Accountant with CA / ICWA / CIMA / CMA or CPA
Prior experience in Retail or Marketplace or Financial Retail Services is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills — including written and oral communication skills
Zeal towards Operational Excellence/Process improvement & simplifications
Excellent knowledge of financial controls and procedures, US GAAP knowledge would be a plus
Advanced level Excel and knowledge of SQL is a must
Experience with Oracle/SAP
Flexible, adaptable, well organized
Knowledge of Six Sigma defect reduction techniques (Lean, etc) preferred
Proactive behavior
Strong team skills
Self motivated, enthusiastic and highly energetic
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
4+ years of Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable experience
4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
Six Sigma Black Belt
Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
Experience as a lean sensei, or experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
MBA, or CPA
Knowledge of Tableau
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
