ALIVE, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, healing, and hope for adults and children affected by intimate partner violence, seeks a dedicated Finance Manager. Incorporated in 1985, the Agency has expanded into a full-service domestic violence (DV) service provider. Services include a 24-hour crisis line, emergency transportation for survivors, individual and group adult counseling, a children’s treatment program, court advocacy, and community education and outreach. ALIVE’s staff has grown to a team of nearly 40 professionals staffing two offices, one in the St. Louis area and the other in Franklin County.

Position Summary The Finance Manager will play a critical role in managing the organization’s finances to ensure sustainability and transparency. This individual will be responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Oversight: Manage all financial operations directly including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll
Maintain organized digital and physical financial records
Track and review budget vs. actuals for specific programs or grants
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for staff, board committees, funders, and other stakeholders
Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Director
Oversee the tax credit process, including application, tracking, donor documentation, and compliance reporting
Grants & Compliance: Monitor and track grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting requirements
Prepare documentation for grant reimbursements or drawdowns
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant regulations
Support the preparation of grant applications and audits; directly coordinate with auditors during the annual audit process
Support annual accreditation processes Internal Controls & Best Practices
Maintain and improve internal control systems and financial policies
Ensure accurate and timely filing of required nonprofit tax forms and annual reports

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Candidates without a formal degree in finance may be considered based on relevant professional experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit financial management
Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and grant compliance
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent organizational and communication skills
