This role supports excise tax compliance and advisory projects across industries including Oil & Gas, Transportation, Manufacturing and Retail, covering US Federal and State excise tax filings and related advisory work. The opportunity includes applying knowledge and experience in assisting clients to meet business objectives, learning and growing within a collaborative, diverse environment, and contributing to high-quality, valued work and guidance. This position supports excise tax compliance and advisory projects, including due diligence reviews, licensing research and consultation, controversy support, interpretation of new legislation, and review of related correspondence prepared by junior staff. Examples include air transportation excise tax, alcohol and tobacco excise tax, the PCORI fee, Superfund excise tax, and firearms/ammunition excise tax. The role also involves coaching and developing other team members. Responsibilities

Lead and provide compliance support to the engagement team, supervising and evaluating assigned seniors and analysts, communicating with clients, and delivering tax recommendations to meet deadlines. Participate in day-to-day client engagements in a highly collaborative culture, ensuring quality work products and timely delivery. Demonstrate an effective understanding of excise tax concepts and apply tax knowledge to client situations. Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely services and work products that meet or exceed client expectations. Identify and engage clients in opportunities for excise tax compliance, planning, and other special services. Prepare practical approaches to client tax situations and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Develop recommendations and implementation plans in complex and judgmental areas. Maintain technical competence by staying up to date on trends, developments and legislation affecting clients. Research advanced tax issues and develop practical and effective solutions. Administrative Function

Lead and coach team members in managing engagement lifecycle and engagement economics for the practice. Responsible for financial and economic health of managed engagements. Skills and Attributes for Success

Ability to lead client discussions, monitor commitments and deadlines, and drive internal teams to completion. Collaborate with clients and colleagues to analyze tax issues, determine alternatives, and recommend solutions. Support the compliance team with data analysis and benchmarking for compliance and tax calculations; make recommendations. Apply independent and objective decision making; know when to ask questions or proceed. Receive direction from more senior team members and occasionally from PPMD. Ability to analyze federal and state statutes and related regulations and apply to current facts, articulating conclusions to team and clients. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (Accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent preferred). Minimum 5+ years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization. Excellent organizational and verbal/written communications skills; effective time management. Ability to work in a fast-paced professional services environment. Strong research skills; ability to navigate Westlaw, CCH, RIA, etc. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; strong knowledge of excise tax concepts. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Willingness to travel as needed and to work in a balanced hybrid environment. Preferred (Ideally you’ll also have)

CPA, EA, or JD/LLM (not required). What We Look For
