Overview
Personal Financial Counselor - Fort Smith, AR. Base pay range: $53,125.00/yr - $84,995.00/yr. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with leadership or other providers, conducting briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources outside of counseling sessions. Works with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program is within scope and meets installation needs. Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences. Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families. Coordinate, publicize and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events per DoDI 1322.34). Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications) as appropriate; virtual PFC support may require authorization by the OSD FINRED Program office. Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations. Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required (or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's). 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract. Ability to obtain a favorable Tier 2 background investigation and to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI). One of these certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $53,125 to $84,995. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range based on current national data; minimums and maximums may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on individual factors. This position may be eligible for short-term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and other benefits.
