Following established policies and procedures, the Loan Portfolio Officer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the existing portfolio and growing/developing customer relationships. The role involves working with the Underwriting Department to provide required information for loan underwriting on both new and renewal credits. Product types include all facets of commercial loans and construction loans. The incumbent will also provide mentoring and coaching to junior staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure compliance with bank, regulatory, and credit requirements with an emphasis on quality customer service.
Prepare and review various reports such as credit underwriting documents, compliance checks, financial spreads, past due reports, tickler reports, exception reports, and pipeline reports.
Assist customers and follow up on outstanding items, including analyzing customer financial statements and verifying covenant compliance.
Assist with training of loan assistants.
Manage and maintain a loan portfolio, which includes evaluating, recommending, and structuring loans; monitoring quarterly financial statements and addressing any issues; recommending loan amendments and renewals based on customer needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: College graduate with a major in accounting or business preferred.
Experience: 3-4 years of corporate commercial lending and banking experience, with thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.
Skills/Ability: PC proficient; strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus; organized and detail-oriented; good credit knowledge of bank’s credit underwriting policies and approval process for assigned loans; capable of working independently with minimal supervision; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-production environment; strong financial analysis and accounting skills.
