Location:
Topeka, KS
Scheduled Work Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (may require additional hours, evening and weekend availability)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Support air quality compliance for assigned generating station locations, including understanding permit requirements and proactively addressing potential concerns.
Ensure overall health of continuous emissions monitoring data and reporting to regulatory agencies.
Prepare and submit annual criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventory.
Ensure timely submission and acquisition of construction and operating permits.
Collaborate with plant environmental compliance coordinator to complete monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting as specified in permits.
Collaborate with internal and external partners.
Education and Experience The preferred candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in sciences, engineering or a related technical field from an ABET accredited program. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience dealing with air quality regulations, preferably those directly related to electrical generating power plants. Experience with annual emissions inventories, Title V compliance reports, continuous emissions monitoring data/reporting and applying for and obtaining construction and operating permits is also desired. Entry level candidates will be considered.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Self-starter with the ability to anticipate and overcome potential compliance hurdles.
Advanced problem‑solving skills for researching complex regulatory issues.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex regulatory information to stakeholders.
Excellent organizational skills.
Working knowledge of state and federal air quality regulations and ability to interpret applicable compliance requirements.
Ability to perform emission calculations.
Working knowledge of construction and operating permit requirements in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Ability to multi‑task and keep numerous projects moving forward simultaneously.
Working Conditions Normal office working conditions with some periodic travel to the plants.
