Overview
Kirk-Rudy, Inc. is seeking a full-time skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Bending/Finishing Technician to join our manufacturing team in Woodstock, GA. The technician will operate bending equipment and perform finishing operations on sheet metal parts and components used in the production of our automation equipment. Reporting to the Sheet Metal Dept Manager, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and appearance of bent and finished parts. Responsibilities
Sheet Metal Bending: Set up and operate bending equipment, such as press brakes and folding machines, to bend sheet metal according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Ensure proper tooling selection, setup, and alignment for each bending operation to achieve accurate and consistent results. Finishing Operations: Perform finishing operations, such as deburring, grinding, sanding, and polishing, to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from sheet metal parts. Use hand tools, power tools, and abrasive materials to achieve smooth and uniform surfaces. Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections of bent and finished parts to verify accuracy, quality, and dimensional tolerances. Use measuring instruments and gauges to check dimensions and angles of bent parts and adjust as needed to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Maintain bending equipment and tools in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Report any equipment malfunctions or defects to the supervisor for repair or replacement. Collaborate with other team members, including welders, fabricators, and assemblers, to support production goals and timelines. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to coordinate workflow, prioritize tasks, and address any issues or concerns. Participate in training programs and professional development activities to enhance bending and finishing skills, knowledge of metalworking techniques, and familiarity with bending and finishing technologies and equipment. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or vocational training in metal fabrication or sheet metal bending preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in sheet metal bending and finishing, with demonstrated proficiency in operating bending equipment and performing finishing operations. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Familiarity with diverse types of sheet metal materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel, and their properties and characteristics. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
