Overview
Will perform Histotech duties (can train on the job) during Mohs surgery for Dr. Harris.
Responsibilities
Histologist must demonstrate technical competency including the following categories:
Embedding tissue with correct orientation according to established protocol
Cutting tissue blocks with high-quality microtomy
Grossing/dissecting patient samples carefully according to the established protocol
Performing special stains manually with proper quality control
Performing IHC staining with proper quality control
Basic troubleshooting of histology procedures
Clerical components of the Histology lab to promote proper communication and chain of custody within Duly and other medical institutions:
Filling out maintenance logs daily to ensure machines are functioning optimally and conditions are proper
RL6 investigation and support:
Effectively reporting and investigating patient safety incidents, medical errors, and potential risks
Assisting with identification and implementation of corrective actions where appropriate
Investigating issues such as turnaround times, supply problems, patient issues, and forwarding these to leadership
Qualifications Education
Histology Technologist (HTL) preferred
Histology Laboratory Technician (HT) preferred
Issued by (Governing Body): ASCP – American Society for Clinical Pathology
Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, allied health science, or related discipline
Field of Study:
Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF
U.S. educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript
Experience
We accept new graduates from histology programs
Previous experience in a hospital or reference laboratory is a plus
Certification is preferred within 1 year of hire
The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28-42, with actual pay determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and internal factors. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, bonuses, and incentives. Base pay is only part of the total rewards package.
