The
Database Engineer
provides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis. Develops relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design. Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development, balancing data volumes, user numbers, distribution, response times, retention, security, and domain controls. The DBE works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle—requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC). Develops requirements from project inception to conclusion for specific business and IT areas (simple to complex systems). Assists with system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts. Translates requirements and data into usable documents by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries; builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity, and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies. Role Type : This position is an onsite role. Basic Qualifications: Typically requires ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity, and a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of database engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree. Support database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis activities. Support system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance efforts. Support development of long- and short-term requirements for database administration and design. Assist in developing databases, parser software, and loading software. Translate requirements into database schemas; create or update ad hoc queries, scripts, macros; manipulate data into master files. Assist in developing database structures fitting into overall system architecture. Lead development of database structures fitting into system architecture. Lead development of databases, parser, and loading software. Develop requirement recommendations from project start to conclusion for specific Business and IT areas. Develop database structures balancing data volume, user load, distribution, response times, retention, security, and controls. Direct fulfillment of project requirements and data organization into usable schemas. Direct development of complex systems using queries, tables, ODBC, and cloud storage/retrieval. Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. Preferred Qualifications: MongoDB and Postgres experience. What We Offer:
