Blockworks
Senior Data Engineer – Blockworks
Remote-first with NYC office optional. Base pay range:
$160,000.00/yr
–
$200,000.00/yr . About Us
Blockworks is an information platform that sits at the center of the crypto industry. We transform raw, complex data and facts into actionable research, trusted news, alpha-driven insights, and world-class events. The result is transparency and confidence. We enable investors, operators, and institutions to see past the noise, make better decisions, and drive the industry forward. What You’ll Do
As our
Senior Data Engineer , you will be directly responsible for leading the creation and execution of our data models and strategies that feed our product. You will work collaboratively with other members of the engineering team to design, develop, implement, and evolve our data pipeline and approaches. On a typical basis you will: Own Data Sourcing Pipelines: architect data warehousing, ingestion, and sourcing strategy; aggregate data from multiple sources into Blockworks' data warehouse using various SDKs. Design and Implement ETL Solutions: implement overall ETL approach, including accessing blockchain nodes, sourcing data from 3rd parties, and modeling internal schemas across PostgreSQL databases. Grow Shared Knowledge: provide technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to the team in implementing established architectures and designs. Drive Operational Efficiency: identify opportunities to improve data workflows and automate routine tasks. Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Research, Product, and Engineering to lead initiatives and advance collaborations. Experimentation is frequent at Blockworks. Comfort with being uncomfortable is a must. What You’ve Done Before
You must have significant knowledge of the crypto industry and at least 4 years (ideally more) of hands-on experience with data modeling, schema design, data operations, and data warehousing. You have built backend systems at scale with a focus on data processing and ingestion. Proficiency in
Typescript ,
Go , and/or
Python , and strong expertise in
SQL
(ideally PostgreSQL, dbt, and Hypertables). Deep experience creating data warehouses using
Timescale ,
Snowflake , and/or
BigQuery , plus experience with DevOps tools and solutions like
Docker ,
CI/CD , and
AWS . It’d Be Great If You’ve Done This
Experience and success in crypto, web3, startup, or incubator environments will help. Background in designing, building, and managing microservices, especially with security, privacy, and scalability, will set you apart. Candidates who can pair technical depth with the ability to thrive in high-growth, fast-paced settings are favored. Hands-on experience with
Solana
is highly valued. If you’ve built and operated Solana ingestion pipelines using RPC, Websocket, or Geyser with resilience to forks and automated backfills, you’ll be a huge asset. Fluency in decoding transactions, instructions, and events, and shipping modeled data into
Postgres ,
Clickhouse , or
Parquet
is desirable. Knowledge of Solana programs and related tooling (IDLs, Borsh layouts, and an internal decoder registry) is a plus. Salary, Benefits, & How We Work
This is a full-time exempt position with an expected salary of
$160,000 - $200,000/year . Benefits:
Remote-first with NYC office access; 100% medical coverage for you (and significant portion for dependents); flexible PTO; parental leave; hardware stipend; learning & growth stipend; career growth; global and diverse team; and a collaborative, inclusive culture.
