AUTOMATED METERING INFRASTRUCTURE (AMI) TECHNICIAN (CLASS CODE 3451)

An employee in this position provides installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and repair for all Automated Metering Infrastructure at the Sewerage and Water Board. Duties include: connecting and disconnecting water service; installing AMI meters; checking and repairing leaks; changing out meters; repairing or replacing broken meter boxes or parts; and answering customer questions about meter readings, high usage or bills, leaks; and related work as required.
Minimum Requirements:
A valid driver's license.
A High School Diploma/GED.
AND Either: Two years of experience in either water meter installation, repair, meter reading or water distribution. Or: Permanent status in the classification of Automated Metering Infrastructure Technician, Trainee.
NOTE:
Domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application. Residency requirements are waived for all Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the city's residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the Sewerage and Water Board. (La R.S. 33:4076). Additional exceptions to the domicile requirement may be made on a case-by-case basis.
