Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team: coach and grow a team of data engineers, set clear expectations, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture
Own outcomes: operate in a product-aligned model, managing roadmaps, KPIs, and delivery excellence for data reliability and quality
Provide technical leadership: guide architecture and solution design across SQL, Snowflake, cloud data platforms, and distributed/event-driven systems
Collaborate cross-functionally: partner with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to translate needs into actionable data capabilities
Champion modern practices: drive cloud-first design, CI/CD for data, observability, and performance optimization
People leadership: attract and hire talent, manage performance, and support career growth
Product & delivery: define KPIs/SLAs (e.g., data freshness, reliability, MTTR), lead discovery and iteration planning
Technical architecture: design batch and streaming pipelines, data models, and event-driven integrations
Platform operations: establish monitoring, alerting, and incident management for data platforms
Governance & compliance: ensure adherence to data governance, privacy, and security standards
Financial & vendor management: optimize cloud and Snowflake spend; manage vendor relationships
Requirements
Experience: 3+ years leading data engineering or platform teams, including hiring and coaching
Technical expertise: strong background in modern data engineering concepts, SQL, Snowflake, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
Delivery track record: proven ability to deliver reliable, observable data pipelines with measurable KPIs
Communication skills: ability to translate between business and technical contexts effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Advanced degree a plus
Familiarity with data modeling, ELT patterns, orchestration tools, and streaming technologies (Kafka/Kinesis)
Exposure to metadata/lineage, data quality frameworks, and governance practices
Domain experience in financial services or insurance
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
