Position Information
Position Overview Work under the guidance of the Director, Data Engineering. Primary responsibilities include design, development, and support of data extraction from various sources, data ingestion into HealthStream’s Data Lake, and data transformation within the Data Lake. This includes building tools, creating complex queries and programs, analyzing database performance, testing and evaluating new data-related tools, and making recommendations for improvements. Key Responsibilities
Adhere to HealthStream security policies, procedures, and training requirements. Design and develop new and tune existing SQL queries. Design, develop, and implement automated solutions to extract data from multiple sources. Design, develop, and implement automated solutions to ingest data into HealthStream’s Data Lake. Design, develop, and implement automated solutions to transform data within HealthStream’s Data Lake. Participate in on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve data issues. Investigate and resolve data issues as needed. Evaluate and implement new data-related technologies. Must be methodical and able to establish priorities. Qualifications
Required / Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Three+ years in data warehousing and ETL tools/frameworks. Three+ years programming experience (e.g., Python, Java, SQL), data modeling, and DBMS. Two+ years in big data technologies (Kafka, Spark, Hive). At least one year of experience with AWS or Azure data processes. Additional Skills Proficient with Git (CLI). Proficient in DBT with Jinja templates. Understanding of data pipelines using SQL. Experience with SDLC methodologies (Agile, Kanban). Proficient with Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps, GitHub and database query tools (e.g., DBeaver, Aginity). Strong scripting skills (Python, SPARQL). Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices. Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally. Problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Experience supporting mission-critical applications (24/7). Team-oriented with a drive for quality and customer service. Ability to handle high volumes of work without errors and to mentor other team members as needed. Benefits
