Responsibilities NOT A REMOTE POSITION. MUST BE ONSITE

Coder/HIM Specialist analyzes and abstracts clinical data by assigning codes from patient records in accordance with coding classification systems. Reviews patient encounters, queries physicians when needed, and identifies and reports issues. Assigns ICD-10-CM codes, creates DRG group assignments.

HIM Specialist physician Liaison assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations. Maintains filing of medical records and assists with Release of Information.

Responsible for daily transcription duties, maintains and preserves daily electronic reports of psychiatric evaluations, health & physicals, and discharge summaries for Health Information Management department.

Qualifications Must have coding certification by AHIMA.

Must have prior Supervisory experience. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in the Medical Records field.

High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
