RESPONSIBILITIES Kforce has a client that is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer in Westlake, TX.

Dashboarding & Visualization:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, user-centric Power BI (enterprise semantic model alignment, row-level security, drill-down UX)

Ensure visual standards: consistency, accessibility, performance

Data Modeling & Semantics:

Build and optimize tabular and star-schema / snowflake data models for reporting efficiency

Define and govern KPIs, calculated measures (DAX), hierarchies, and business logic

Data Integration & SQL:

Write performant SQL (ANSI + Oracle SQL dialect) for transformations, aggregations

Collaborate with data engineers on ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., Snowflake)

Perform query tuning (execution plans, indexing strategies, partitioning)

Governance, Quality & Performance:

Implement version control (e.g., Git) and deployment workflows for BI assets

Monitor data freshness, lineage, and quality (null anomaly detection, reconciliation)

Enforce security (RLS, object-level policies, data masking where appropriate)

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Create functional specs and wireframes

Perform analysis and translate ambiguous business questions

Automation & Optimization:

Parameterize datasets and implement incremental refresh strategies

Introduce monitoring (usage metrics, adoption heat maps)

Evaluate new BI platform features and recommend adoption

REQUIREMENTS

8+ years in BI Engineering/Analytics Engineering/Data Analytics role

Experience with source control (Git) and CI/CD for BI artifacts (YAML definitions, deployment pipelines)

Strong Power BI expertise: DAX, Power Query (M), tabular modeling, composite models, deployment pipelines

Advanced SQL (CTEs, window functions, performance tuning, explain plans)

Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and semantic layer design

Strong analytical reasoning, statistical thinking

Excellent written & verbal communication

Bias for automation and continuous improvement

High attention to detail; Quality-first mentality

Ability to translate business needs into structured requirements/metrics

Preferred/Nice to Have

Experience with data warehouses: Snowflake

Familiarity with Python

Exposure to API-based data ingestion and REST integration

Knowledge of performance optimization for large models

Familiarity with data governance tools (Collibra, Alation)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
