We have a Certified Anesthesia Assistant (CAA) position available with our growing organization at our future Franciscan OrthoIndy Ambulatory Surgery Center to open in West Lafayette, Indiana in January 2026. This outpatient surgery center will include four operating rooms, one procedure room and 17 PPOP-PACU bays. Bepart of something great! The Certified Anesthesia Assistant (CAA) works closely with Anesthesiologists to provide patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The CAA assists in preparing operating rooms, setting up equipment, monitoring patients during procedures, and providing post-anesthesia care. The CAA must have specialized training and certification to ensure they are skilled in administering anesthesia and supporting the anesthesia care team. The CAA plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process. Perform thorough pre-anesthesia assessments, including reviewing patient history, conducting physical exams and discussing anesthesia plans with patients. Administer anesthesia under the supervision of a licensed anesthesiologist, including general, regional and monitored anesthesia care. Provide continuous patient monitoring and anesthesia adjustments during procedures. Assist anesthesiologists in monitoring patients, including EKG, arterial pressure, central venous pressure, arterial blood gas, hematocrit, or routine measurement of temperature, respiration, blood pressure or heart rate. Assist in the provision of advanced life support techniques including procedures using high frequency ventilation or intra-arterial cardiovascular assistance devices. Provide post-anesthesia care, including managing any complications related to anesthesia. Ensure continuity of care by collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Provide immediate response for anesthesia-related emergencies. Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records. Requirements
Master’s degree (M.A./M.S.) or equivalent in related field required. Active and unrestricted medical license in Indiana required. National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) required. 1-2 years of experience providing care in a clinical setting required. BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
