Job Description – Accountant / Tax Preparer
Rust & Company CPAs is seeking an energetic, ambitious, experienced accountant to join our team. We are a well-established CPA firm located in Swanzey, NH (est. 1993). We have a firm of 12 team members in a public accounting environment that provides hands-on exposure to all aspects of the accounting process. Our firm is growing, offering opportunities for personal and professional development. ACCOUNTANT / TAX PREPARER POSITION

Responsibilities
Accounting: outsourced cloud-based accounting solution for small business clients; work with many of the firm’s clients in an outsourced accounting role, handling A/P, payroll and reporting; assist clients and prospects with QuickBooks Online as primary business reporting technology; develop a strong, productive, professional, trusted advisor relationship with assigned clients; partner with clients by understanding their business and industry and providing ongoing advice, insights and support.
Tax Preparation: prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals; prepare federal and state business tax returns (partnerships, corporations, S corporations); work with clients to prepare tax projects and complete regular tax planning; returns prepared using UltraTax CS and Thomson Reuters products.
Interpersonal/Client Development: exhibit time management and organization; develop an entrepreneurial approach to client service; build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate basic knowledge of clients’ businesses; maintain contacts with peers and develop a network of business contacts; communicate effectively with clients and the personnel responsible for maintaining client relationships; understand and demonstrate firm ethics consistently.
Experience
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Two years of experience in accounting or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Experience working with QuickBooks is a plus but not required.
Strong technology skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook at minimum; more applications preferred).
Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience working in a paperless environment is strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; team player with a positive approach.
