Assistant Retail Controller
will play a critical role in supporting the financial and operational oversight of retail cannabis operations. This position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, optimizes inventory management, and supports the retail team in maintaining financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Retail Controller will collaborate with store managers, inventory teams, and senior leadership to drive financial accountability and operational success. **This is a hybrid role, based out of either San Diego or in the Bay Area, CA. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations : Assist in managing day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations. Monitor sales transactions for accuracy and compliance with cannabis regulations. Prepare financial reports and assist in budgeting processes for retail locations. Inventory Management : Oversee inventory tracking systems to ensure accurate stock levels across dispensaries. Conduct regular audits of inventory to prevent discrepancies or loss. Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely restocking of products. Compliance : Ensure adherence to state and local cannabis regulations in all financial transactions. Support compliance reporting, including tax filings specific to cannabis retail operations. Operational Support : Assist store managers with implementing operational policies and procedures. Analyze store performance metrics and provide actionable insights for improvement. Support training initiatives related to financial systems and compliance protocols. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail accounting or finance; cannabis industry experience is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and retail operations. Proficiency in Sage accounting software \and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with California cannabis laws and regulations is a plus. Skills Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data effectively. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments. Problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges proactively. Requirements Must be at least 21 years old. Valid California cannabis worker license or permit (or ability to obtain one). Ability to pass background checks as required by state law. Compensation:
