Description
Duties:
Payment Entry: Self-Pay and Legal
Complete payment entry accurately and promptly.
Post payments to the practice management system, applying payments to services for both self-pay and commercial insurance.
Verify all EFT deposits.
Complete daily payment reconciliation reports for all postings and forward them to the accounting team.
Create self-pay batches for billing.
Apply unapplied funds daily.
Audit and review client accounts for accuracy.
Process client refunds.
File all daily posting batches.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Workers Compensation, Auto Medical Payments, and other payer requirements and systems.
Proficient use of computer systems and software.
Ability to work well in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies.
A calm manner and patience when working with patients, insurers, or attorneys.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Minimum of two to three years of experience in a medical office setting.
Strong teamwork, customer service, and communication skills.
Ability to understand established office routines and policies.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Customer service-oriented.
Dependable with strong attention to detail.
Effective time management skills.
