We are seeking aSenior Accountant to join a reputable and growing company here in Birmingham known for the quality of their people. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a critical part in assisting in themanagementthe company’s accounting operations, reporting, and month-end close.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Controller in managing the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Provide support during audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making
Help streamline accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed
Mentor and support junior accounting staff as appropriate
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment with hands on general ledger experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
*Salary expectations $85-90K, depending on relevant experience
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
