Purpose of the role
The Controller will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies. This person will manage all accounting functions including, billing, accounts payable, payroll function, monthly closing of accounts, and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements. Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for cash management and the Company’s financial planning activities.
The Controller will report to the EVP- Business Operations and work closely with Company Leadership and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background, and is able to proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity, and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation
Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes
Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices
Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report
Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions
Make recommendations for changes as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
Manage the compilation of information for preparation of tax returns
Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget
Actively review and advise on financial and accounting processes
Supervise team of Accountants and Senior Accountants to ensure they're motivated and provided proper support to meet their job duties and responsibilities
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required,
8 to 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years of management experience and experience working in Behavioral Health field desired.
Strong experience using QuickBooks accounting software and data analytics
Highly-effective team management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
