Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is actively seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join their accounting team in Georgia. This is a contract-to-hire position. The role is perfect for an experienced accounting professional who will support core financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting audits, enhancing accounting systems, and contributing to both recurring and project-based initiatives. Responsibilities

Perform general ledger accounting activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting the monthly and quarterly close process. Record and review accruals to ensure accurate expense recognition in accordance with GAAP. Support revenue accounting by recording transactions, reconciling related accounts, and coordinating with billing and AR teams. Compile, analyze, and manipulate financial data to support reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting. Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules. Assist in reviewing contracts under guidance to apply expense/capitalization rules and identify potential accounting impacts. Prepare audit support schedules and respond to auditor requests. Contribute to process improvements, system updates, and other team initiatives while building technical and accounting skills. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 4+ years of progressive general accounting experience, or 2+ years in public accounting. Solid understanding of accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and GAAP principles. Exposure to fixed asset accounting (additions, disposals, depreciation) strongly preferred. Familiarity with revenue and billing processes; experience in multi-entity or regulated environments is a plus. Ability to analyze and manipulate financial data to support reconciliations and reporting. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP). ERP experience preferred (Infor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar). CPA designation preferred but not required.
