Overview
This position is responsible for performing routine activities in the decontamination, reprocessing, and high level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories. Responsible for scheduling exams and registering patients as well as other various duties to support the department operations. Responsibilities
Maintains working knowledge to schedule endoscopy procedures and prepare daily patient schedule sheets. Maintains and orders all supplies and forms necessary for clerical responsibilities. Maintains appropriate levels of supplies in each endoscopy room. Cleans and disinfects instruments and accessories after use, sets-up/turns rooms between exams. Delivers specimens to lab. Coordinates scopes and supplies to ensure efficient flow of scheduled cases. Maintains endoscopic instrument and accessories in working order and completes maintenance requisitions for equipment repairs while maintaining repair records. Provides back-up support for receptionist area. Collects, prepares, and labels specimens. Restocks equipment needed for specimen collection. Assists physician with technical aspects of procedure including, but not limited to: biopsy, polypectomy, dilation, and tattooing/staining. Assists the Gastroenterologist or Surgeon during intra operative Endoscopy procedures, including but not limited to: ERCP, EUS, Colonoscopy and EGD (this does not include opening and closing, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, harvesting grafts, transplanting tissue, administering anesthesia, implanting devices, and placing invasive lines). Assists with room turnover of the Endoscopy equipment in the OR suites between endoscopic procedures. Complete charges for endoscopy procedures performed in the OR, then forward to appropriate OR staff to process. Maintains, orders and checks outdates of supplies used in OR cases. Maintains equipment used for OR cases. Assess and prepare supplies and equipment for cases under the guidance of the Gastroenterologist or Surgeon Maintain skills and proficiencies through in-services and educational opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned. Work between Waconia and Chaska Endoscopy Maintains BLS certification Minimum Education/Work Experience
High school graduate or equivalent Previous experience/basic knowledge of computers Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Customer service skills Knowledge of computer programs needed to perform duties Detail oriented and ability to multi-task Demonstrated ability to problem solve Knowledge of endoscopy supplies and equipment Basic knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique and microbiological principles Ability to work autonomously and as a team Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above Preferred Qualifications
Certified Surgical Tech, Medical Assistant, LPN, or CNA EMT certification Physical Demands
