The Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC Children’s Theatre Production Company (CTPC) is seeking a
Costume Assistant
to support the costume department throughout the pre-production, rehearsal, and performance phases of upcoming productions. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Costume Designer and other team members to bring the creative vision to life, while ensuring efficiency, organization, and professionalism in the costume area. The JCC and CTPC celebrate being a proudly Jewish and inclusive space for all, welcoming staff and participants from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities:
Assist with costume fittings, alterations, and organization. Help source, pull, or shop for costume pieces and accessories. Label, organize, and maintain costumes and wardrobe area. Provide backstage support during tech rehearsals and performances. Assist with laundry, costume repairs, and quick changes as needed. Document costume notes, track changes, and update wardrobe paperwork. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized costume workspace. Communicate effectively with the costume team, cast, and stage management. Attend all production meetings, special events, and trainings required. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements:
Previous experience in costumes, fashion, or theater preferred. Basic sewing, alteration, or garment care knowledge required. Strong organizational and communication skills, with a willingness to collaborate and be flexible. Ability to lift/carry costume bins or supplies as needed. Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to command a room and remain patient and inclusive. Ability to communicate effectively with the artistic team. Working Conditions:
The physical demands of this job include regular sitting, standing, walking, using a computer, talking, and hearing. The employee may be required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The work environment is fast-paced, with high energy and interaction with participants and other agency staff. Compensation:
Competitive paid position with a stipend of $1,000. Part-time position.
