Responsibilities

Organize and execute preparatory bookkeeping for payables, receivables, and asset accounting.

Coordinate and own monthly closings and annual financial statements, with or without external tax office support.

Potentially insource accounting processes and implement efficient internal procedures.

Invoicing & dunning: prepare and send accurate sales‑enabled customer invoices; monitor payment statuses and manage the dunning process.

Reimbursements, payroll & payments: review and approve employee reimbursement requests; coordinate payroll with our external provider and internal People Ops; prepare and execute weekly payment runs.

Strategic projects & automation: set up and implement scalable accounting processes for international expansion; automate finance and accounting workflows to enhance operational efficiency; support documentation and continuous improvement of finance operations.

Qualifications – Must‑haves

Experience in accounting: 5+ years in accounting, including 3+ years in a high‑growth tech or B2B SaaS.

Company accounting tools proficiency: hands‑on experience with systems like Datev, NetSuite, Odoo, and modern AP/AR tools (e.g. Moss, Payhawk, Ramp).

German GAAP & tax law: solid knowledge of HGB and German tax regulations.

Process improvement mindset: identify and implement process enhancements with autonomy.

Communication skills: confident communicating clearly across levels and functions in English.

Detail‑oriented & reliable: known for precision and reliability in financial operations.

Nice‑to‑have

Educational background: degree in finance, accounting, or related field, or certified training (e.g. tax clerk).

Audit or firm experience: worked at an accounting or audit firm.

German language skills: basic fluency in German.

International exposure: understand accounting standards like IFRS or US‑GAAP and familiar with financial consolidation.

Tech savvy: eager to explore new tools and automation.

Compliance experience: familiar with VAT, transfer pricing, and international compliance.

Remote work proficiency: comfortable working in remote, distributed, async environments.
