Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance from a four-year college or university - Required
Master's degree in accounting/finance/business - Preferred
3+ years' experience working in a Plant Environment (Manufacturing) as a Cost Accountant or Plant Controller - Required
3+ years' experience working in a Corporate/Finance Environment as Financial and/or Operational Analyst - Preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 5-10 years – preferred

Description
The position will be responsible for adherence to financial policies and internal controls, improving internal business processes to support the Life Sciences growth/profitability model, and be a key staff member of the site/plant leadership team serving as the plant managers right-hand.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to ensure the site is aligned to strategic objectives; act as a proactive business partner aiding the decision-making process and enforcing ownership & accountability.
Lead the annual RF1/3 forecast and budgeting process at the site and provide explanations for significant variances, including actual vs. budget/forecast.
Focus on timely month-end results/reporting with strategic planning to grow profitability; attention to detail and data-driven identification of issues.
Lead month-end close processes to align with deadlines, prepare and approve general entries/reconciliations as needed, and ensure balance sheet integrity.
Lead the annual standard cost development process to ensure transparency of cost/margin.
Ensure plant accounting activities comply with HPS/LS policies and sound business practices.
This position is heavily focused on the manufacturing environment and supporting operations.
Knowledge of cost accounting is required.
Essential Functions
Month-end close, reconciliations, and internal financial reporting (Monthly GM report, etc.).
Operational analysis of scrap, labor & overhead cost variances; monthly trends, risks & opportunities; weekly flash, mid-month pulse checks, etc.
Lead the annual completion of the internal controls gap analysis and ensure action plans, segregation of duties, and system/access controls are in place.
Evaluate site internal controls and ensure alignment with internal controls and six essentials.
Assess current accounting processes, offer improvements, and implement new processes.
Support LS & Operations Controller with ad hoc requests, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts.
Interact with supervisors and plant leadership to provide clear and accurate view of financial performance.
Research issues proactively and provide answers and insights before asked.
Advisor/Mentor/Business partner to the site and Life Sciences.
Support CI/WCM initiatives with Kaizen events, ensuring countermeasures and projects have clear financial objectives and tracked results.
Co-manage with the project manager the capital process and assist in preparing capital approval requests.
Create forward-looking financial models and what-if scenarios to support decision-making (make vs. buy, etc.).
Coordinate physical inventory and cycle count program; ensure annual physical and fixed asset counts adhere to policies.
Collaborate with the commercial team on costing and strategic planning to win new business.
