Overview Senior Commercial Loan Officer at D.L. Evans Bank. This role is responsible for receiving, reviewing, and evaluating commercial and agricultural loan requests, meeting with applicants to explain credit policies and obtain necessary documentation, and ensuring all required information (such as IRS transcripts and court record searches) is collected and verified prior to approval. The officer monitors and reviews construction and development loans, including conducting collateral and on-site inspections for agricultural credits, especially for larger or higher-risk loans. They also assist with collections activities as needed.

Responsibilities

Conduct interviews, take applications, and process preliminary documentation for commercial, agricultural, and consumer loan requests.

Discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation to encourage positive customer engagement.

Analyze and evaluate loan requests; approve loans within specified limits.

Prepare written submissions for Senior Lender, Regional Credit Officer, or Senior Loan Committee when requests exceed individual limits.

Identify and resolve problems or potential issues with credit information by coordinating with necessary parties.

Assist in the review of construction loan advances on commercial properties.

Conduct property inspections as assigned.

Review loan reports to identify maturing or matured loans; proactively complete renewal paperwork or processes declines.

Meet with agricultural borrowers and prepare budget projections in accordance with established Bank guidelines.

Reconcile agriculture draw requests and payments to approved budgets monthly; prepare and submit variance reports to Credit Administration as appropriate.

Perform agricultural inspections or accompany agricultural inspectors on inspections according to policy guidelines.

Assist in the collection of delinquent accounts.

Complete all lending functions in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirements.

Establish and maintain effective and professional business relations with customers and trade professionals; answer questions and resolve requests promptly and professionally.

Keep borrowers informed of bank loan policies and services; educate customers about bank products and services to help meet their financial needs.

Meet with applicants whose loans are denied, explaining reasons and discussing alternatives.

Maintain and project the Bank’s professional reputation.

Establish and maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Bank personnel and management; provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff.

Coordinate functions with related departments and branches; assist other Commercial Lending personnel and provide support as needed.

Directly or indirectly supervise loan personnel and/or lending assistants; assign, direct, coordinate, and review tasks; ensure staffing is effectively utilized.

Keep management informed of area activities and any significant problems; attend meetings and committees as required; complete required reports and records; attend training and stay current on procedures and policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred

At least eight years of commercial lending experience required

Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such

Understanding of financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness required

Knowledge of bank lending and collections programs, policies, and procedures required

Familiarity with property management and maintenance procedures preferred

Proven track record of community/civic/trade organization involvement and business development

Strong interviewing skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical skills

Able to use financial calculator and related computer applications and business machines
