We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Accountant to join our finance team and provide expertise in indirect tax compliance and reporting. This role is essential to ensuring the company remains compliant with sales and use tax, VAT, and property tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions. The Tax Accountant will collaborate closely with both accounting and operational teams to deliver accurate reporting, strengthen controls, and contribute to efficient financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and file sales and use tax, VAT, and property tax returns in accordance with regulatory deadlines.
Maintain accurate tax records, schedules, and documentation to support filings and internal reporting.
Reconcile indirect tax accounts to the general ledger and post adjustments as necessary.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential impacts on business operations.
Assist with audits by compiling required documentation and coordinating responses to government authorities.
Register new jurisdictions for sales and use tax accounts as the business expands.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure tax implications are properly addressed in transactions and contracts.
Support month‑end close activities including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting or tax experience, preferably with a focus on indirect taxes.
Professional certification (CPA or equivalent) strongly preferred but not required.
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and indirect tax regulations.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP and tax compliance software a plus.
Effective communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts to non‑finance stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
