Overview The Job in a Nutshell:
The Grocery/Bulk Assistant is responsible for assisting the Grocery/Bulk Manager in the successful operation and profitability of the department.

Responsibilities
Providing world-class customer service as a top priority.
Exemplifying integrity, responsibility, and excellence while adhering to all policies.
Creating inviting, full, and shoppable departments.
Assisting in ordering and maintaining accurate inventory levels for the grocery and bulk departments.
Managing margins, COGs, and overall department profitability, including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
Ensuring all in-stock products meet company standards.
Offering and following up on special orders.
Merchandising shelves, endcaps, and displays.
Participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock activities.
Training and monitoring department personnel, including task assignments and follow-up.
Conducting demos and working with the department manager to address performance issues.
Supporting store opening and closing activities, including DSR, cash handling, and cashier responsibilities.
Handling register functions, managing customer returns, addressing complaints, and covering shifts.
Maintaining safety and security for customers and employees.
Responding to customer questions per company standards, including nutritional support.
Increasing product knowledge and utilizing software like SAP and inventory management tools.
Working a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a 40-hour workweek and mandatory meetings.
This position has limited Manager on Duty responsibilities but is not the overall manager.
All employees are expected to be "hands-on" and contribute to company success.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Experience in grocery or retail environment preferred; natural foods background is a plus.
Experience supervising others preferred.
Ability to pass food safety training and maintain certifications.
Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused.
Excellent customer service skills and a sense of urgency.
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions and complete tasks.
Cashier training and currency counting skills required.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
