Position Summary
Lead McCarthy’s team efforts to provide MEP preconstruction services to our clients. This includes developing overall MEP estimating and bid strategy as well as leading and executing the entire estimating/bid process for both negotiated bids and hard bids. Key Responsibilities
Lead/manage MEP preconstruction/estimating process from conceptual to CDs Establish/maintain budget control over MEP trades during estimating/preconstruction phases, providing value alternative solutions where fit. Assist field operations with change order pricing and solving issues during construction Assist project team in design decisions and development of solutions, and participate in training of project staff Track historical costs of projects and review milestone documents for value alternative opportunities Develop/maintain relationships with internal clients, subcontractors, vendors, etc., representing McCarthy to the community in a positive way Manage estimating/bid processes by coordinating bid efforts, processing RFIs and interfacing between bid community and design team members on negotiations Provide LEED analysis to meet project goals and basic/conceptual lifecycle analysis on system for owner consideration Review plans/specifications/equipment schedules to ensure compliance and maintain working/current knowledge of MEP codes Manage/prepare Exhibit 1 development process for all MEP subcontracts Assist in prequalification process, design coordination meetings and in preparing responses to RFPs and RFQs Generate quantity takeoffs as required to identify scope deficiencies and validate that the project budget is being maintained Qualifications
5+ years’ experience and Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering required Proven experience estimating medium-large projects required General knowledge of construction principles/practices required Knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to use or learn to use MC2, TSI, Quick Pen, Accubid, OST, QTO and other estimating programs Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work Experience leading successful team ventures, including development of employees and maintaining relationships with external entities and subcontractor community Self-starter, highly motivated with strong work ethic Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a “value added” approach to preconstruction Solid interpersonal and communication skills McCarthy is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
