The Relationship Banker II combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an elevated skill level within the banking team. The Relationship Banker II is an advanced role within the banking industry, combining the responsibilities of a teller and a personal banker, with an emphasis on providing comprehensive financial services to customers. This role requires deeper knowledge and expertise in banking products, customer service, and operational processes. The Relationship Banker II is expected to handle more complex transactions and provide guidance to less experienced staff, while continuing to build customer relationships and promote the bank’s services. Responsibilities
Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional service to build lasting relationships. Identify customer needs and offer solutions through the bank’s products and services. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach, assisting with both routine and complex banking needs. Resolve customer concerns and issues promptly, ensuring a positive experience. Promote and cross-sell bank products. Assist customers in understanding various product offerings and provide tailored financial advice, referring customers to other lines of business as appropriate. Open and manage a variety of accounts; assist with account maintenance tasks, such as updating account information, processing stop payments, and handling transfers. Provide assistance with and support for online banking services and digital banking tools. Refer clients with credit needs to the appropriate banker or line of business. Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy; balance cash drawer and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded at the end of each shift. Adhere to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure accuracy and security of transactions. Maintain confidentiality of customer information and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. Monitor for potential fraud or suspicious activity, following bank procedures to address issues. Assist with branch operations and administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, organizing records, and maintaining operational reports. Support branch leadership with daily operations, including opening/closing procedures and ensuring compliance with security standards. Travel between the Champaign/Urbana branches. Education, Experience & Training
High School diploma required. 2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities required. 1 year of previous training and/or combination of mentorship, military or management experience required. Pursuant to the SAFE Act, all Relationship Bankers (if lending) must maintain current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). If not active at hire, must attain active registration upon employment. Failure to maintain active registration may lead to disciplinary action, up to termination. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong sales and customer service skills; strong oral and written communication skills; basic math and accounting functions; lending basics and assessing a customer’s financial needs. Abilities
Accurately count money. Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures. Stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 50 pounds. Explain products and services to current and potential customers; participate in cross-selling in collaboration with Banking Center leadership and other lines of business. Benefits & Compensation
Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance. Base Pay Range: $18-$21/hour.
