High School Lead Teacher for Fall 2025

Star Academy, a non-profit, non-public school located in San Rafael, CA, serving students with learning differences in grades 3-post-secondary, is seeking a Full-Time, High School Lead Teacher for Fall 2025. This teacher will lead a high school special day class of up to 9 students with moderate learning differences. Responsibilities include leading functional academics in ELA, Math, and Social Studies, as well as supporting instruction with functional living skills (cooking, budgeting, travel training, and pre-vocational skills). The teaching team in this classroom includes assistant teachers and specialists with expertise in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, Behavior, Assistive technology, and Transition/Living Skills. Star Academy’s mission is to help Special Education students with complex learning differences experience academic success through a multisensory approach. Qualifications: Clear California Mild/Moderate Disabilities Credential required and must meet CTC requirements for working with students on the Autism Spectrum. Experience working with students with learning differences in an educational setting. Experience with IEP documents and the IEP process. Duties of this teacher will include but may not be limited to: Writing evidence-based IEPs. Participation in IEP team meetings. Supervision of Assistant Teacher regarding classroom responsibilities, student monitoring, and lesson plan implementation. Planning, preparing, and delivering instructional materials that facilitate a positive and effective learning experience. Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet varying student needs and interests. Collaborating with specialists and other teachers to provide students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate while practicing a variety of academic and social skills. Supervising students during snack break, recess, lunch, and transitions. Participating in full staff and team meetings.
