NIFCO is looking for a full-time Journeyman Plumber to join its growing Lincoln field staff. NIFCO provides design and installation of mechanical systems to its customers and is in need of more skilled plumbers who understand the various types of piping systems and their operation. Our mechanical team is able to take the designs given to them from Architects, Engineers & other trades to map out and build an integrated piping system. This set up includes placing all pipe routing & sizing; fixture placement & styles per plumbing Codes; planning, assigning, and directing work or apprentices; coordination with other trades; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty & responsibility satisfactorily after training is complete. Essential Duties Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications. Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness. Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers. Cuts, threads, and fabricates pipe. Assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and CPVC piping. Connects pipes, using threaded, grooved, or cemented joints. Secures pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers. Increases pressure in pipe system and observes connected pressure gauge to test for leaks. Observes fabrication machines on job site to detect malfunctions.
Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 1 to 10 employees on the job site. Assigns and directs work. Trains apprentices. Addresses complaints and resolves problems. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of designated jobs.
Qualifications The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for this position. Personal and/or Team Skills Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility and ability to work effectively on multiple projects, meeting established timelines. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; Journeyman's License in Plumbing. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and construction documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to work in a team environment as well as alone. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs. Reasoning Skills Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer/Technical Skills Ability to read and understand all the functions of a blueprint. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Journeyman's License; Valid Driver's License. Physical Demands The employee must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Must have close vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
