Full Time Banquet Captain at The Abbey Resort
Averages $32.00-55.00 / hour ($9.00 + tips) JOB SUMMARY As an Abbey Resort associate, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team at a full service resort situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Geneva. BASIC FUNCTION The Banquet Captain will supervise staff; coordinate banquet events assigned and implement property policies and procedures. Banquet captains ensure that elements of a venue are ready before guests arrive, including the dining tables, bar, food, and beverages. During the event, they interact with the host to respond to any special requests or last-minute adjustments. They monitor the activities of workers and guests and respond to questions, complaints, or comments that may arise.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years food and beverage experience in banquets
Pleasant and helpful personality
Strong communication skills to coordinate with staff, clients, and vendors, ensuring a successful event
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Fill out necessary paperwork for function (order stewarding, chaffing dishes, tables and miscellaneous products).
Coordinate with kitchen on food pick up.
Supervise set up, preparation, service, and tear down of banquet function.
Constant staff training and development.
Follow and enforce safety procedures.
Conduct pre‑meeting.
Interact with guests, coordinator, and property conference managers.
Evaluation and discipline of employees.
Give feedback to Banquets Manager.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
Required to perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
Scheduled hours may vary on business needs and may or may not include holidays, weekends, various shifts, overtime or reduced hours.
Maintain open communication with management and other employees.
Be well organized and efficient.
ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor environments, working for as long as a function last. Indoor working conditions include walking on a carpeted areas and vinyl areas. Outdoor working conditions include walking on cement and grass.
