Cecil College was founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president reports directly to the Board of Trustees. Cecil College is located in Maryland’s northeastern county, accessible from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Wilmington, Delaware. The College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students and offers associate degrees, certificate programs, and non-credit classes. General Duties

Instructor needed for PHY 103 Physics Today. Physics Today helps curious Liberal Arts students become aware of, and appreciate, their physical environment. The basics concepts of classical mechanics, thermodynamics, wave motion, electricity, magnetism, optics, and modern physics are covered. The emphasis is on the relationship between physics and everyday life. This class consists of both lecture and lab components, so the instructor is responsible for preparing demonstrations in class and laboratory activities for students. Class sizes are typically small, with less than 10 students each. Classes are delivered in-person in a face-to-face format on Mondays and Thursdays, so this position requires in-person presence. The fall semester runs from August 23 through December 13. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting classes in accordance with Cecil College approved syllabi and the stipulations of the department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for meeting every scheduled class, including the final examination, for the full number of scheduled minutes in the room assigned. Any changes in meeting place or time must be reported to the Office of Academic Programs prior to the class meeting. Requirements

Master’s degree in Physics or equivalent graduate credits. Successful college-level teaching experience strongly preferred. The Fiscal Year 2026 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters or less at Cecil - $830 per credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $855 per credit hour for individuals with a Masters+60 or an earned Doctorate; More than 2 semesters at Cecil - $855 per credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $880 per credit hour for individuals with a Masters+60 or an earned Doctorate.
