Overview
At Houston Methodist, the Senior Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IOM) Technologist performs neurodiagnostic procedures across all IOM modalities required as a registered neurodiagnostic technologist. This includes independently performing SSEPs, TceMEP, EMG (including triggered), ABRs, Phase Reversal, and cortical mapping. When not scheduled for IOM cases, the technologist may perform ambulatory and long-term EEG monitoring, visual, brainstem, and somatosensory evoked potentials, or monitor epilepsy patients, following hospital policies. The role emphasizes delivering exceptional patient care, ensuring safety, and practicing Patient and Family-Centered Care.

Perform EEG monitoring during various procedures with appropriate supervision.
Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure safety standards.
Share EEG knowledge and monitor epilepsy patients independently.
Perform EP or EEG studies when no IOM cases are scheduled.
Improve patient satisfaction through peer accountability.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Identify significant events, communicate critical results, and ensure patient safety.
Assess and implement quality improvements.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Charge accurately, submit reports timely, and manage resources efficiently.

Advance knowledge in EEG and EP signals, and participate in performance improvement activities.

Qualifications EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited END program, or an associate’s degree or higher in a related science field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years experience in IOM procedures.
License/Certification
Required: R-CNIM (ABRET), BLS (AHA).
Preferred: R-EPT (ABRET), R-EEGT (ABRET).
KSA/ Supplemental Data
Demonstrates necessary skills and competencies, communicates effectively, and maintains safety standards.
Proficient in English, EEG/EP technology, and digital equipment safety.
Basic computer skills required.
