Behavioral Interventionist Educational Support Specialist
We are looking for Behavioral Interventionists for our alternate school, ChOICE Academy. The role provides direct supervision to youth within an integrated mental health treatment facility / educational center. This team implements behavioral programming and milieu counseling in social, emotional and recreation/leisure skills and activities of daily living in classroom, day treatment and community settings. Job Duties
Supervise students individually or in groups as needed and assigned
Work with a team of interventionists to implement behavior and treatment plans
Keep accurate, timely notes consistent with agency standards
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree in human services, education or psychology or equivalent education and experience
Organizational skills
Attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build relationships and trust with parents, other school staff, and WCMHS staff
Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and access to a safe and reliable insured vehicle required
Ability to stand, walk, and/or run for prolonged periods
Positive regard for individuals with disabilities
Willing and able to satisfactorily complete specialized physical and verbal de-escalation training
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
Willing to learn crisis de-escalation and passive restraint techniques to the satisfaction of the training instructor
Work Environment
This role includes working with youth who may have challenging behaviors in and adjacent to classroom settings
Some work is done outside and may require constant supervision of a student
Extensive use of a computer while completing notes which may include extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation
Compensation and Benefits This full-time position starts at $23.59/hr. and includes excellent benefits, including tuition reimbursement/student loan assistance; generous paid time off; employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; and a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer match.
