Overview
The WWAMI School of Medical Education is currently hiring adjunct faculty positions. WWAMI is a cooperative arrangement between UAA, the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM), and four WWAMI states (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho). Alaskans are admitted into the program and complete the Foundations phase of medical school at UAA. As an adjunct faculty member you will serve as a Foundations guide and work with UWSOM and UAA faculty at the WWAMI site in Anchorage to adapt and deploy (and, in some cases, develop) the UWSOM Foundations Phase curriculum. This includes collaborating with Block leaders in UW School of Medicine and the UAA WWAMI program. The role may include teaching in one or more blocks of the 18‑month Foundations Phase Curriculum, preparing for classes, facilitating student learning, reviewing assignments, following up with students, and serving as a resource for medical students. If assigned, additional responsibilities may include student remediation, submitting evaluations in a timely fashion, participating in faculty meetings and WWAMI curriculum committees, and engaging in interprofessional education and service‑learning activities. The physician must meet the requirements for appointment to the University of Alaska Anchorage faculty. Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree and board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties recognized medical specialty. A minimum of 2 years of clinical practice in a relevant field. A minimum of five years of clinical practice and teaching is preferred, with some experience in the Anchorage medical community. Prior teaching experience with medical students and involvement with the WWAMI program are preferred. Education, training and experience in a primary care field are preferred. Position Details
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. It is a part‑time, for‑credit adjunct faculty position with variable salary. Adjunct positions are hired on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of appointment or continued employment from semester to semester. Hiring decisions are made based on the needs of the semester schedule. This is an at‑will, union‑represented adjunct position and may be canceled based on the needs of the university.
