Responsibilities

Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using Point-of-Sale (POS) system; handle changes, bag merchandise, provide receipts, and ensure top-quality guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls promptly and professionally; escalate customer issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, e.g., new title reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program. Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training staff in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed, ensuring alignment with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates in line with guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain guest service levels. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify time worked for associates. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment function properly. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct closing checks and communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative and operational duties. Perform inventory counts, stock merchandise, and reorganize stock to ensure products are represented and accessible. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and communicate discrepancies to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records; ensure manuals are up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred.

Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Operate the POS system; basic mathematics and organizational skills. Complete required paperwork accurately and follow instructions. Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week. Manage pressure and adapt to situations; be creative and a problem solver. Reliability, trustworthiness, and good judgment. Able to work alone and stand/move for long periods; able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks. Onboarding familiarity with military ranks (where applicable).
