our Greater Cleveland YMCA team in living our cause and helping to provide quality, safe, and healthy programs and services in our community. Group Exercise Instructors
design and instruct safe, high-quality, effective, and challenging group exercise classes according to the class format and description. Instructors must be knowledgeable, professional, motivating, and member-focused. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design classes that adhere to the designated format and are appropriate for participants' abilities. Teach scheduled classes with energy and enthusiasm. Demonstrate skills being taught, explain them clearly to class members, and work at skill and intensity levels suitable for the class. Emphasize members' workouts over personal performance. Consistently demonstrate multiple movement modifications, encourage members to modify movements, and work at their own pace. Monitor intensity, technique, proper form, and hydration throughout the class. Use clear and easy-to-follow verbal and physical cues in advance of movement changes. Plan the specific choreography of each class in advance, regularly updating music and routines. Accurately record class attendance for each member as per the designated method. Ensure the safety of all participants; know emergency procedures and the location and use of emergency equipment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred. Current certification in CPR/AED for Adults, Children, and Infants, and First Aid. Current certification in Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise or an approved Group Exercise certification from an organization recognized by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. Possess current certification and/or documentation of training in the specific class format, if available.
