Organization and Benefits Partnership Health Center (PHC) is currently in the process of separating from Missoula County, with completion expected by the end of this year. As a result, our employee benefits package will be changing as early as January 1, 2026. While final details are not yet available, the future benefits are expected to remain comparable in value and scope to our current offerings. Missoula is located halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and home to the University of Montana. It offers outdoor recreation and a vibrant community. PHC is a 14-site, co-applicant Federally Qualified Health Center with Missoula County, providing a full range of primary care services including medical, dental, behavioral health, and an on-site pharmacy. Benefits include medical (no cost for employee), dental, vision insurance, loan forgiveness, retirement plan contributions, and generous paid sick and vacation time.
Responsibilities
Provide essential medicine care to vulnerable, primarily unhoused patients in the Missoula Area.
Provide primary care to patients as an independent practitioner, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic health conditions.
Collaborate with community partners (Poverello, MST, All Nations Health Center, Crisis Receiving Center, and others) to ensure coordinated care.
Engage in outreach to identify and connect with unhoused individuals who may benefit from medical care; build trust to facilitate ongoing care.
Identify and address barriers to healthcare access; advocate for services and resources; perform medical history and physical/psychosocial examinations.
Formulate diagnoses and prescribe treatment, including writing prescriptions.
Perform minor clinical procedures and review lab results with appropriate follow-up.
Maintain accurate patient records in SOAP format; handle billing and coding for billable visits.
Participate in quality assurance reviews and patient chart audits with the medical director.
Maintain expertise and certification through required CME hours.
Educate the PHC team and partners on best practices for delivering healthcare in non-traditional settings.
Other Duties Performs related work as required or directed. Provides coverage at satellite locations on an as-needed basis when requested.
Education Requires a current license, APRN or PA, to practice in Montana, or eligibility for an appropriate Montana medical license and willingness to relocate.
Experience Requires two years of experience in a clinical setting (health center preferred). One year of experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably unhoused populations. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team preferred.
Special Requirements Requires immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test. New employees will be asked to volunteer vaccination status for required vaccines upon hire and will be offered assistance during hiring to receive necessary immunizations. Employees not up-to-date with required vaccines will receive a reasonable accommodation where such accommodation does not cause undue hardship or endanger health or safety.
Supervision Works under the direction of the Partnership Health Center Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, and designated physician mentor where applicable.
Supervision Exerted No direct supervision exercised. May supervise students during rotations.
Working Relationships Has numerous contacts with the general public, PHC clinic staff, other Health Department employees, and professionals in allied health fields. Acts as an expert in a professional field to inform people of their health status and problems and to influence patients to comply with health care recommendations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
Considerable knowledge in primary health care (diagnosis, treatment, pharmacology); knowledge of public health, wellness, prevention, infectious diseases, and appropriate referrals; knowledge of HIPAA compliance; knowledge of PHC Corporate Compliance Guidelines; basic knowledge of clinical assessments and health care management.
Skills:
Skill in basic lab procedures, interpreting lab results, clinical examination procedures, charting, and use of related instruments and equipment.
Abilities:
Ability to respond sensitively to diverse populations; work independently with minimal supervision; communicate effectively in English; establish and maintain relationships with diverse individuals; operate in a mobile/non-traditional setting; perform physical tasks (including occasional lifting up to 30 lbs); exposure to biomedical hazards; no work-from-home option.
