Postdoctoral Fellow – Chemical & Structural Biology and Signal Transduction Saint Louis University is a Catholic Jesuit Institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service. This Postdoctoral Fellow position is in the chemistry research group led by Dr. Ajith Karunarathne in the Department of Chemistry (www.ajithlab.org). This work involves protein engineering and developing the cryo-EM-based structural biology arm of the lab, expanding molecular pharmacology and drug discovery research, assisting with the training of graduate and undergraduate student researchers, and laboratory management. Responsibilities

Structure-guided engineering and optimization of novel proteins Extensive characterization of proteins both in vitro and in vivo, including Cryo-EM The use of advanced molecular tool to ex-vivo engineering cells (CRISPR) In vivo testing of optogenetics tools Development of virus-based gene delivery methods Mentoring Graduate and Undergraduate Students Required qualifications

PhD in Chemistry, structural biology, chemical biology, or a related field Preferred qualifications

Ph.D. in Biochemistry and molecular-cell biology with a focus on protein engineering and signal transduction. Significant experience in advanced molecular cloning, protein biochemistry, and single-cell approaches. Experience in structural biology, proteomics-lipidomics, and bioinformatics is preferred.
