The Van Driver provides safe transport of patients, personal effects, requisitions, specimens, charts, and miscellaneous items and assists with patient transport activities as required. Responsibilities
Transport patients and/or specimens upon request. Transport patients using wheelchairs and with stretcher transports. Transport specimens to the laboratory, and deliver blood and blood products in a timely manner. Pick up slides for physicians to review from laboratory as requested. Obtain supplies from central supply as requested. Participate in using automated systems in a timely and accurate manner to assist with patient care. Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs (age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). Communicate with the patient, family, and/or primary caregiver at their level. Assist with environmental duties in departments or units including pickup and disposal of recycling/trash receptacles; linen removal from laundry bins to proper disposal areas as requested. Adhere to the standards identified in the facility’s Organizational Competencies. Required Education and Experience
Driver must be a minimum of 21 years of age to drive. Acceptable history of safe driving as noted through a 3-year driving record check.
